ATATÜRK'S MUSEUM

This building is one of the traditional Adana houses built during the 19th century which was constructed in two storeys out of stone and bricks. The building was restored and opened for visits in 1981 as a museum. When Atatürk visited Adana on 15 March 1923 with his wife, he was welcomed in this house and, every year on the 15th of March, his welcome anniversary is commemorated in this building.

First Floor: Study Room: Various newspaper scripts issued by local newspapers are displayed in this section.

Library: There are about 2000 books in Ottoman and Turkish (in Latin alphabet) displayed in this section.

Upper Storey: (Entry Hall) Atatürk's Statue out of wax is here.

Bedroom: Brass bedstead with silver embroidered bed, table cloth, and, two comfortable arm-chair and wardrobe of Maraş work are displayed.

Study Room: A chair, an arm-chair, a desk, a telephone, a cupboard and a portrait of Atatürk are displayed in this room.

Press Room: The portraits of the people who sacrificed their lifes for the Independence Wars of Turkey and medals for them and a clock which was adjusted to the death of Atatürk at 09:05.

Living Room: A chair made out of wallnut, waterpipe, a metal brazier, kilims and carpets are in this room.

Hatay Room: When Atatürk visited Adana, a Lady (Fıtnat Hanım) came to the presense of Atatürk and presented hin a BLACK ROSE. In response, Atatürk told her, "40 year-olf Turkish Land can not be left at the hands of enemy."

Weapons Room: Various weapons, the ranks worn on the shoulders of different officers, the model of the house Atatürk was born, the example of the stone taken from Osmaniye to the Mausoleum Atatürk and coins dating to various years are displayed here.

Room of the aide-officer: The room where the aide-office of Atatürk survived with brass bedstead and silver embroidered bed and bed-covers and etc.

This museum is open throughout the week except Mondays between 08:00-1200 and 13:00-1700 Hrs.
