TEMPLE OF HADRIAN
![]() This was a small temple not because they did not care about the emperor, but it has very important 4 friezes (the ones you are looking at are the replicas) which made this temple to be considered. Like you can see from this picture at the background, there are two of them on the left and two on the right. The one on the far left and on the side shows a man riding a horse; in front of is a wild boar which depicts the Mythilogical Story of Ephesus.
There is another one adjacent to it which shows few people with an altar in the middle of them which was a device to sacrifice animals on during the celebration religious days or festivals. On the right hand side of the temple, the frieze on the left shows amazons with an elephant on their right. Elephant, just like today, was frequently used by the ancient people to be able to carry the lumbers, blocks of stones, and, in the meantime, it depicts that the land of Turkey of today was entirely covered with thick forests, if not jungles. The one on the right adjacent to the previous one, has several figurines: 7 of them on the right on the frieze are the representation of goddesses: First one from the right with helmet on the head is Athena, the 4th one from the right with crown on her head is Artemis (Diana) of Ephesus.
