General Population: 11,608,868 Of this population 8,039,036 people live in the cities and 3,569,832 people live in the rural areas. ![]() T Surrounded by the mountains of the coastal regions and lying at a lower level than the latter stretches a vast inland zone which is nowhere below 750 meters/2,461 feet above sea level. I n these last three regions, the mountains that lie along the edge of the Central Anatolia isolating it from all maritime influence and give it its own special features of climate and vegetation. The climate is characterized by a low rainfall mainly in the springs, and in winter the snow is often heavy. The summers are hot and dry and the winters are severe. Vegetation is very rare: wheat, barley, etc. In the Eastern Anatolia Region: The life-stock breeding is very important. |
